CofferLok™ Clamp Connectors

4-Bolt External Clamps

Replacing heavy multi-bolt flanges with high-strength mechanical clamp assemblies.

1. The 4-Bolt Clamping System

Conventional flanges require up to 24 bolts that must be carefully torqued in sequence. CofferLok reduces this to just four bolts total. Tightening these four bolts draws the external clamp segments together, applying uniform radial force to seal the internal hubs with high-pressure reliability.

2. Lightweight Engineering

By eliminating the heavy, wide flange profile and high bolt count, CofferLok clamps cut overall connector weight by up to 80%. This massive reduction significantly lowers structural loads on pipe racks, topside structures, and marine vessels.

3. Reduced Make-up Time

With only four bolts, installation and turnaround times are reduced by up to 75%. This is especially valuable in restricted space offshore platforms, subsea environments where diver/ROV time is costly, and critical refinery processing units.

4. Rigid, Reliable Clamping

CofferLok clamps are built in two or three segments depending on pipe diameter. The high-tensile clamp segments encase the weld hubs completely, providing excellent resistance to external bending moments and tensile loads.

Fast Make-up. Extreme Strength.

CofferLok clamp assemblies utilize high-quality forged steel, designed to withstand deepwater subsea pressure, extreme topside vibration, and highly corrosive process fluids.

Qualified in compliance with international standards such as ASME Sec VIII, API 6A, and NORSOK L-005, CofferLok is the first choice for operators who need speed, weight savings, and absolute sealing integrity.

Clamp FAQ

How many bolts does CofferLok use compared to standard flanges?
CofferLok utilizes exactly four bolts across its entire range of sizes and pressure classes. Standard ANSI/ASME or API flanges often require 8, 12, 16, or 24 bolts to achieve the same pressure rating.
Is CofferLok rated for the same pressures as standard ASME flanges?
Yes, CofferLok clamp connectors meet or exceed the pressure ratings of standard ASME Class 150 to 2500 and API 5,000 to 15,000 psi flanges.
How is the clamp tightened?
CofferLok clamps are tightened by torquing the four bolts, which can be done manually, with hydraulic impact wrenches, or via subsea torque tools. Because there are only four bolts, torque sequence complexity is fully eliminated.
