Taper-Lok® Compact Flanges

High-Integrity Compact Flanges

Eliminating gasket relaxation and fugitive emissions with self-energized compact bolted connectors.

1. Size & Weight Savings

Taper-Lok® compact flanges reduce connector weight by up to 75% and face diameter by up to 50% compared to standard ASME B16.5 flanges. This allows piping runs to be grouped much closer together, reducing support structure requirements.

2. Pressure-Assisted Sealing

The Taper-Lok® seal ring sits within a machined internal taper. As internal line pressure increases, it forces the seal ring lips tighter against the flange body, creating a seal that actually strengthens under pressure.

3. Environmental Compliance

Conventional flanges suffer from gasket relaxation and leakage. Taper-Lok® compact flanges use metal-to-metal contact to establish a gas-tight seal, making them ideal for high-consequence volatile services such as hydrogen and LNG.

4. HPHT Cycle Performance

Taper-Lok® flanges maintain joint pre-load throughout sudden thermal spikes and pressure fluctuations. They are qualified to operate in temperatures from cryogenic levels up to 1,500°F (815°C).

Forged for Severe Services

Our compact flanges are forged from premium carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex, and specialized alloys to match your piping metallurgy perfectly.

With decades of field experience in oil refineries, offshore vessels, and chemical process plants, Taper-Lok® compact flanges represent the ultimate in leak-free mechanical joint design.

Compact Flange FAQ

Are Taper-Lok® compact flanges interchangeable with standard ASME flanges?
Taper-Lok® compact flanges use a proprietary face profile and seal geometry. While they weld directly to standard pipe schedules, they mate only with another Taper-Lok® flange or matching hub profile.
What pressure classes are supported by Taper-Lok® flanges?
Taper-Lok® compact flanges are designed and rated to meet or exceed standard pressure ratings from ASME Class 150 to 2500 and API 5,000 to 15,000 psi.
Do compact flanges require specific bolting materials?
Yes. High-strength ASTM A193 B7, B16, or alloy studs are typically specified to maintain correct pre-load. Because the flange faces make complete metal-to-metal contact (Zero Gap), bolt torque requirements are significantly lower than standard gaskets.
